FAITH JAMES THE SECOND CHAPTER IN PLAIN WORDS

This has been so hard for me to write because in doing so I have had to face my own demon of what I do and don't believe and trust in. I have re-evaluated myself and I hope my eyes are open as well as my mind and heart to the truth of men and the will of God himself.

I will attempt in my own way to explain  the second chapter of James from the way I understand it. May God guide me please.

King James Version: James Chapter 2

1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

(It doesn't matter who or what I am born into this life, the lord Jesus Christ is still and always will be the son of the Living God)

2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

(so even if a sharp dressed man comes into your presence with diamonds and gold rings & a poor man in dirty and raged cloths)

3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:

(and you lift up the well dressed man, and place him in a well seated good place. But take the Poor & sit him on a stop in a corner and tell "stay their out of the way, be quiet".

4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?

(Have you not become yourselves judges of evil and partial thoughts? Not because of actions but because of perceptions?)

5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

(listen to me you true believers. Have God not taken the poor, broken, discarded, lost, abused, wounded by this world but rich in the belief in the faith that God the father by his Son Jesus Christ will deliver them to the Kingdom through his promise of love.)

6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

( Don't those in the places of authority and even you, hate and conspire against those that have less than you. who do you think is the real oppressor? it is the rich who place you in the judgement seats.)

7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

(Are the laws that they use to judge you perverted or corrupted?)

8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

(If you can fulfill the Holy Law & love your neighbor as yourself you will do very well)

9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

(But if you treat one person better than another because of what they have or who they are it is a sin and a transgression of Holy Law)

10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

(If you keep the law of the commandments but violet one law you are guilty of them all.)

11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

(God said, don't kill, he also commit adulteries. so if you do one and not the other you still break the Law.

12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

(as you live by the law you shall be judged by the law)

13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.

(He that has not received any mercy in being judged will show no mercy in his judgement. But he who has received mercy in being judged will show mercy in his own judgements.)

14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

(What does it profit a man to say he believes a thing to be real? and have nothing to show for it. Can that that save him?)

15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,

(If a man or woman has no cloths or food to eat every day)

16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

(and you you tell the them go be in peace and don't give them the things that are needed for the body what good good is that?)

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

(so belief/faith, if it has no works or actions behind it is dead & stands alone, as dead bones.)

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

(I say. A man may say, "I have faith", I have works, but show me your faith/belief without any works & I will show you mine by the work I do)

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

(You believe there is one God, your right, you do good. the deceiver also believes and trembles at his name.)

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

(But know this man, in your vanities. Faith without work is dead)

21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

(Abraham a man, was justified by God himself through faith by offering his son to God Isaac upon an altar. In a selfless act of faith, in the same way as God the Father selflessly offered his son for our sins on the cross)

22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

(can you see the how faith broth forth the work and the work made life prefect)

23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

(The word became perfected in fulfillment in Abraham faith in Gods words, and is this action the creator called him a friend a friend because his righteousness.)

24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

(Now you understand that a man is justified not by faith only)

25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

(not only was rahab justified by her works when she saves the messengers in her home and sent them out another way.)

26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
